Hingol - The Wonderland of Pakistan

From the vault: Wild Wanderers 2nd Meet-up (November 2020) Adjacent to Makran Coastal Highway – Baluchistan, Hingol National Park is the wonderland of Pakistan. It’s one of the most sacred place for Hindus pilgrims. According to Maharaja of the temple, the only Temple of Hanglaj Devi in the world is located in Hingol. This temple is locally known as (Nani Mata ka mandir). The scenery of oasis, natural fountains (Amrat ghara), hilltops, and caves around the temple adds beauty to its serenity. Main Gate of Hanglaj Devi Temple (Photography inside Mandir not allowed) Crater of Chandragup Mud Volcano What is just a mud volcano to many people, in many volcanoes of Hingol, is a fundamental stopover in their pilgrimage (Yatra). Pilgrims pray and ask (mannat) at Chandragupta, make mud statues of their Lord Shiva from the volcanic mud. Inspired by their pottery, I also made few items from the volcanic mud for my collection. Myself at Golden Beach Few miles away is the refreshing beaches of...

Pakistan and FIFA World Cup 2022

Pakistan is sending hundreds of thousand labors to Qatar for construction of football stadiums of FIFA World Cup 2022. But the infrastructure of football stadiums of the largest metropolitan city of Pakistan is facing inferno. The situation here is so grave that the only international stadium is now being used as headquarter of a para-military force in order to maintain law and order situation of the area. Pakistan Football Federation is facing a shortage of fund to maintain the stadiums which were once developed by them. Neither Infrastructure nor opportunities are being created by the relevant authorities. Now few private companies and foreign NGOs has taken some initiative for structural reforms in football. They are now adopting the abandoned stadium and renovating them with their local partners and also creating opportunities like tournaments, leagues and training camps. Sports Management System is of the local partner who has not only created Sports Academies in underprivil...

Town Court

Justice forms  an important pillar of any state, but it stands rather shaky in Pakistan for as long as its history. Like many other  developing countries , Pakistan is facing a judicial crisis, ranging from Musharaf’s treason case to parallel obsolete form of illegal judicial system of Jirgas . A number of victims and hundreds of thousands cases are still pending. And we are hearing a famous dialogue of Hindi Movie ‘ Damini’ ‘Tareekh pay Tareekh, Tareekh pay Tareekh’. We often curse the rotten judiciary system of Pakistan. Every victim is pleading to Chief Justice of Pakistan, as if he is a super hero who will solve every case with a  magic wand . We stay ignorant of the fact that the basic unit of  law enforcement  is the police station, while local bodies stand as nurseries of a democratic system. So why can’t be ‘ Town Court ’ for judicial system? Karachi, for example, comprise of 110 police stations divided into 10 Police Division, in which severa...

HOW QINGQI TURNED INTO A SPOILED CHILD

Spare the rod, and spoil the child. This proverb best defines the situation of one of the youngest and most preferred public transport of Pakistan in general and Karachi in particular, “”,  or  Chinchi as it is so generally mispelled . It might sound strange why all of sudden I started to curse this public transport. This is because this  problem child is on its way to become monster. How? Be patient I am telling first let me recover from the tiring journey I had today. “Ah! I miss you my beloved Bike, Get Well Soon”. What! I sound stupid???  I dare you to have a Qingqi journey and talk sense. Alright! Now let’s look at the positive aspects of this public transport. Unfortunately, being a male dominant society, we have less space not only in heart but public transport also. Female passengers were overlooked, not picked up and ignored by bus drivers and this space in Karachi was used by male passenger as one can see them hanging on bus like honey bees on...

CRIMEA AND KASHMIR: SAME SAME BUT DIFFERENT

Dispute of Crimea is the result of Post cold war while Dispute of Kashmir is of Indo-Pakistan separation. Ukraine was firmly in the USSR orbit and so Crimea, Russian Part then, was joined to Ukraine. Kashmir was a Muslim Majority Area, ruled by a Hindu Emperor, wanted to join Pakistan after Independence but sold to India in a controversial manner. Crimean’s soul remains more loyal to the mother county Russia than their governed country Ukraine. Kashmiris facing invasion from India, die for their freedom and even face treason charges on cheering their beloved Pakistan’s victory in a cricket match. Finally, the people of Crimea vote for independence on referendum held on Sunday March 16, 2014. In addition, the Crimean parliament is now (when the lines are written) formally seeking to re-integrate itself with Russia. And the people of Kashmir are still pleading. Referendum in Kashmir is one of United Nation earliest resolution. Like Anti-Drones and many other resolutions, no one is gi...

STILL IN THE PIPELINE

Many new varieties and versions of abuses are expected from KESC, WAPDA and other  power generation  institutions in the coming days. Protests, sometimes violent, will be the most common street theaters. Engineers and technocrats will come up with different suggestions and figures for tackling electricity crisis. And the common denominator for all this chaos will be LOAD-SHEDDING. The only thing we won’t do will be to use the available resources. People of Thar are facing famine, but there is no way we would begin with our Thar Coal Project. The Chairman’s seat of  Planning and Development  Commission remains vacant because no one is eligible for the post; those who are eligible and competent are not interested. Because of this vacancy, no concrete and long-term power project is being planned and developed. Government is trying to cure cancer with aspirin. Small Projects like Pakistan Model Power Park at Gaddani are inaugurated by Government are appreciable, but ...

Tapeball Cricket in Pakistan

Despite the aggravating situation of electricity in Pakistan, the Electric tape business has never faced recession. The reason behind it is a surprising variation of cricket played with taped tennis ball. Tapeball cricket makes use of tennis ball wrapped in electrical tape. The most common place for this type of cricket is a neighborhood street. This variation of cricket is very popular in Pakistan and other South Asian countries. People typically play Tapeball cricket in narrow by-lanes, streets and parking lots. Normally, basic cricket rules are followed but “Rules are meant to be broken” here in this variation. Customized rules are followed as per venue and situation. Night Series, normally on Saturdays, are played to put some extra Bucks for Sunday’s Hangout.  Crictionary of this game is entirely different; some typical terms are used in this variation of Cricket that may not even be heard by Sachin, who has spent nearly a quarter of century playing Profe...

Drones are Good

I went to private university, who was offering a degree program in Unmanned Vehicle System, for my cousin's admission. There were not many candidates present at the University for this course. But those who were present were very interested and excited for the inauguration class. Google Images The administrator, probably thought that I am also one of the candidate and, asked me to join the class. I snapped at the chance and went along with other candidates to attend the class. "Let me show you a show-reel first, so you all can understand for what we have gathered here", says the speaker dressed in neutral toned suit. The documentary started with a " Shaheen " who was flying high in sky and searching for the food. All of sudden she dive down high from the sky and strike prey with his talons. Then a transition occurred and sort of same movement was repeated by a Drone. It flee, it preyed and went away. It recalls me some of the movies and news...

One Birth can Save Millions

Things become more interesting when life put you in the other shoe. Lawyer becomes Client, Police Officer becomes Criminals and Doctors become Patients, especially when the doctor is a gold medalist. I want to share a casual talk that converted into information into knowledge into wisdom.  I was having a casual conversation with my younger sister who is B.E.M.S. Gold Medalist from Hamdard University Pakistan and expecting a baby (as on published date).  Me (grabbing bottle of Malt Water): Hey Sis What’s up! Courtesy: Google Images Sis (replying casually): Nothing Much! Reading few Articles on Cord Blood Banking. Me (taking a sip of Malt Water): “Cord Blood Banking” Translation Please! Sis: Stem Cell Banking Me (asking as she is speaking Alien Language): Translation in language that I can understand Sis(Striking a Taunt): You should increase you Vocabulary Bro!  Me(irritatingly) : Ha Ha! Will you Pl...
