Pakistan is sending hundreds of thousand labors to Qatar for construction of football stadiums of FIFA World Cup 2022. But the infrastructure of football stadiums of the largest metropolitan city of Pakistan is facing inferno. The situation here is so grave that the only international stadium is now being used as headquarter of a para-military force in order to maintain law and order situation of the area.
Pakistan Football Federation is facing a shortage of fund to maintain the stadiums which were once developed by them. Neither Infrastructure nor opportunities are being created by the relevant authorities. Now few private companies and foreign NGOs has taken some initiative for structural reforms in football. They are now adopting the abandoned stadium and renovating them with their local partners and also creating opportunities like tournaments, leagues and training camps.
Sports Management System is of the local partner who has not only created Sports Academies in underprivileged areas but also adopted one of the oldest football clubs of Karachi i.e. Karachi Kickers.
While these reforms are being initiated from the civil society and NGOs. It is highly demanded from them to revisit the policy of Football Development. instead of sending labor for FIFA World Cup 2022, their priority should be sending football player to participate in World Cup.
