Drones are Good

I went to private university, who was offering a degree program in Unmanned Vehicle System, for my cousin's admission. There were not many candidates present at the University for this course. But those who were present were very interested and excited for the inauguration class.

The administrator, probably thought that I am also one of the candidate and, asked me to join the class. I snapped at the chance and went along with other candidates to attend the class.

"Let me show you a show-reel first, so you all can understand for what we have gathered here", says the speaker dressed in neutral toned suit.

The documentary started with a "Shaheen" who was flying high in sky and searching for the food. All of sudden she dive down high from the sky and strike prey with his talons. Then a transition occurred and sort of same movement was repeated by a Drone. It flee, it preyed and went away. It recalls me some of the movies and news report shown by our media related to drone attacks in Pakistan.

"That's what a drone does in war zone". I can feel the soldiers voice in the tone of that person, "But remember it is not the only use of a drone, this statement surprised me a bit (may be because I never researched on the usage of drone). Drone is basically an equipment... a vehicle like a car, he continued, you can use a car for a purpose of transportation, rescue, commercial use, reconnaissance and surveillance, and at the same you can use it as a lethal weapon, for robbery, killing and other criminal purposes. Likewise the drone broadly fall in two categories: drones for reconnaissance and surveillance purposes and drones armed with missiles and bombs".

While he was doing that comparative analysis, A movie named " The Bourne Legacy" was playing in my mind in which the Drone were used to send medicine and food etc to the Character Jason Bourne and the same Drone were used to made an assassination attack which survived. For How? Watch the Movie.

It is commercially used in Hungry to send food and rescue to mountain climber. he told. It reminds me of K-2. It can be used to survey to those places where human can't go e.g. Top of an active Volcano, for geographical survey of  site of oil, gas and mineral  exploration and production.

They are predominately used for military operation but can be used; and are being by few countries for civil and commercial purpose. That is the reason the word drone is considered as a threat not opportunity. And we are here to convert this threat into opportunity" he concluded.

P.S. Because of some reasons this course offer was withdrawn by the university.

My Summer Reads

The current economic turmoil, political instability, judicial uncertainty, and military repositioning has influenced my bookshelf of the summer too much. My summer reading list compromises money management books.   1. The Psychology of Money: The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel. It is one of the finest books on understanding money and its management or we can say the relationship between Money and Human Behavior. The premise of the book is that we think of earning money as rational and logical but we spend money based on emotions and psychology. It consists of independent chapters on money, saving, investment, and spending. It can be read interdependently if you need recommendations on some specific targets.   2. Intelligent Investor: Intelligent Investor is written by Benjamin Graham. First published in 1949 and revised in 1972. It is a comprehensive and classic guide to investing but if you are interested in understanding classic strategies on the share mark...
